International Women in Engineering

2022 International Women in Engineering Day

Celebrating our Women Engineers!

In honor of International Women in Engineering Day, Sunrise Labs is taking this opportunity to celebrate our female engineers. We are proud of their contributions to the complex design and development of Medical Devices and Life Sciences applications. Our engineering teams are stronger because of their creativity, experience, and diverse talents.

By choosing engineering as a career path, not only do they bring diverse talent to the team, these women play a vital role in inspiring and encouraging younger women and girls to follow this path. One of our software engineers shares her passion for engineering by conducting a workshop in electrical engineering for 9th-grade girls through NH Tech Alliance’s TechGirls program every Fall. She feels that sharing her passion with young women is a way of giving back and hopefully, sparking a career path in an engineering discipline.

The demand for engineering talent abounds, and right now women fill only a fraction of these positions nationwide. International Women In Engineering Day spotlights the need for a diverse workforce. At Sunrise, fifteen percent of our engineers are women, and our goal is to increase this number significantly. Sunrise is working to meet that goal by investing in our people through our personal development programs, health & wellness initiatives, and flexible work schedules so employees can contribute to meaningful work and live their best lives with purpose.  Sunrise offers full tuition reimbursement for degree programs and supports advancement opportunities within our teams.

Sunrise learns about each engineer’s strengths and interests to match them with programs where they can leverage their experience and grow new skills. One of our software engineers, Christine, was recently promoted to Software Manager to help the SW Director allocate resources to existing and upcoming projects, write proposals, and improve processes and teamwork while continuing to be a software technical lead on projects. With these added responsibilities, Christine has felt supported by her team and appreciates the opportunity for personal growth. Christine works remotely and is supported in her work/life swaying between work projects and the needs of her family. “What I like about Sunrise is the high-respect environment where people are appreciated for their hard work. I love working with different technologies and the variety of projects that are making a difference in people’s lives.”, says Christine.

Sunrise Labs is a place where employees feel at home the moment they walk through the door. “Creating the environment where all employees can thrive on collaborative teams is an ongoing investment in DEI training and learning. Continuously asking and responding to the employee experience allows for our continued success in both attracting and retaining top talent.  It is an exciting time to be a part of a person-centered approach at work where we not only value diversity but acknowledge and support it in all areas.”, says Sherry Harding, Director of Employee Experience at Sunrise Labs.
